Quality Control

Onyx seeks to uphold the highest manufacturing standards in the industry. Our comprehensive quality control systems are implemented in 3 phases and consists of 20+ tests.

Pre-Production Input Control

Raw input components are separated, individually assessed, then assigned to corresponding IQC units based on testing needs.

  • Materials Testing Unit: Performs comprehensive assessments on all inputs to ensure material durability and biosafety.
  • Functional Testing Unit: Conducts performance assessment of functional components such as batteries, control circuits, and vaporization mechanisms.

Live-Production Oversight

Quality assessments stationed after key production stages.

  • E-Liquids & Containers: Tested for nicotine content & stress-tested for leakages.
  • Atomization Mesh/Coils: Repeatedly stress-tested on maximum voltage & active duration to ensure that devices do not short-circuit / burn after extended usage.
  • Control Circuits & Airflow Channels: Tested for proper integration & pressurization.

Post-Production Quality Assurance

Temperature Resistance Test
Products are treated with 140°F for 4 hours, rests at 70°F for 2 hours, treated with -29°F for 4 hours, rests at 70°F for 2 hours. This cycle is repeated twice.

Battery Function Test
Devices are connected to charging cords until the charging indicator becomes active, then disconnected. This cycle is repeated 50 times.

Humidity Resistance Test
Products are treated with 29%RH for 4 hours, then 98%RH for 4 hours. This cycle is repeated twice.

Accidental Drop Test
Device is lifted 1.2 meters above the ground and released for free fall. This is repeated 10 times.  

Tumble Simulation Test
Products are placed in a 20” x 20” x 15” box and tumbled at a rate of 250 rotations per minute for 4 hours. The products are inspected 48 hours alter for leakages.

Flight Simulation Test
Testing chamber air pressure is elevated to 19Kpa (equivalent to 12,000 above sea level) for 12 hours to ensure no leakages occur during air transportation.

Functionality Assessment (Machine)
All products are machine tested for proper functionality (17.5ml per activation; 3 activations per device).

Sample Flavor Assurance (Human)
Product samples are randomly selected and fully consumed by Onyx’s flavor team to ensure flavor retention upon extended use.
